In my previous blog I wrote about the importance of drinking water to our bodies and to our health.
At the end of this post there is a fanastic video about what would happen if you didn't drink water. It is a great, well put together video from TED-ED and Mia Nacamilli.
Just before you watch it though I also wanted to cover non pure water drinks. Tea, coffee, fruit drinks, smoothies etc.
I like a cup of coffee a day, I'm not against this or other drinks, and many of them have their own health benefits.
I'd just like people to understand that whenever you drink anything other than pure water you may be putting a certain amount of toxins into your body. This will be the case with tea, coffee, smoothies (if they're not completely natural), squash and fruit drinks, and fizzy drinks. I'd avoid most fizzy drinks at all costs to be honest (that would need a completely new blog).
In order to get rid of toxins, your body needs to seperate them and flush them out, and in order to do this it needs water. So, a certain amount of water is required from this, that amound depends on the amount of toxins. In short, you will absorb some water from your cup of coffee, but not necessarily as much as you think. Just take that into conisderation with your daily intake of water (including what you get from consuming fruits and vegetables).
